Varsity Volleyball Write-Up

This week, the Fieldston Varsity Volleyball team looked to improve on their 10-4 record facing off against the Horace Mann Lions and the Nightingale Nighthawks. Led by senior captains, Iva Knezevic, Annabel Paul, Logan Harlock, Paige Bohart, Lorelei Essman-Freeman, the team has been off to a great start. This past monday, they took on the Nighthawks, crushing them and winning in straight sets. The first two sets were not even close as they won by 15+ in each while they won the third set by a smaller margin. As the team has struggled with multiple injuries, they all continued to play well with the contributions of LJ Grant, (sophomore) Daisy Harris, (sophomore) and Annabel Paul (senior) who have all stepped up due to the injuries of Logan Harlock, (senior) and Paige Bohart (senior). This saturday, our Eagles took on the Lions at their homecoming in a tough loss. We came out of the gate strong winning the first 2 sets but ultimately ended up losing 2-3. The Lions are one of the better teams in the league but due to the amount of injuries the Eagles have had, it was a hard game, and the team was stretched thin. Junior Ayana Santos says: “We have a very talented team, we just need to work on being more aggressive and communicating more on the court”. It's been a great season so far for the Eagles as they stand at 11-5 and have shown no signs of slowing down.
