It was a tough week for the Girls JV Tennis team. Everyone was hopeful during the start of the Monday match against Trinity. Our singles player on Monday the 7th was Aiden Goldsmith, (freshman) who had a devastating, but well-fought loss. Emma Nikov (freshman) and Aditi Patwardhan (freshman) pulled through and boosted the score for Fieldston! The rest of the team played their hardest and exhibited insane teamwork and communication. Although most of the team went home disappointed, everyone came back Friday ready to win.
Despite the fact that the girls had already lost to Poly, GJVT went into the match with a positive attitude. Unfortunately, the attitude did not quite help, because once again, GJVT took another L. The girls, in spite of the cold, tried their best, although the end result was a sad loss of 2-3. We secured a win from our singles player Amani Creamer, (sophomore) who pulled through as per usual. She had an impressive end score of 8-1. Emma Nikov and Aditi Patwardhan, the unstoppable doubles pair, had an extremely close match resulting in a 8-6 W! Claire Markstein (freshman) and Miki Turtel, (sophomore) who refuse to play with anyone else, managed to tie the game score after being down 0-4, but did not end up pulling through with a 8-5 L. The next team to face the Eagles is Riverdale on Monday, Oct. 16, whom they’ve taken a previous W over.
